VI UPDATE: 2020 + 2021

As 2020 draws to a close we wanted to take a moment to reflect on what we have achieved as a company. 2020 for the world has been a challenge and an adjustment. For a newly launching startup with little funding, working to find product market fit, the global stage was less than ideal. We’d like to take a moment to reflect on what 2020 has held for Vid and share what is to come in 2021.

2020 in review:

• Launched first beta (February)
• First marketing and influencer push (February)
• MXC listing (February)
• Kucoin listing (February)
• COVID impact to initial listing and overall promotion (March)
• Taken off the App store (June — August)
• Remodelling of Vid: (April- August)New branding, token economics, concept, team,
• Hiring of 9 new developers
• Development of ‘growth team’ and focus on metrics-driven enhancements
• Rewrote the entire app in Flutter
• Relaunched on Apple App Store and Google Play Store
• Partnership with simplex
• Introduction of Vibes
• Translation/localization into five languages most popular among our users (Indonesian, Russian, Vietnamese, Spanish, and Dutch)
• Kucoin hack
• Introduction of tags (note: tags not quite live yet)
• Bloomberg coverage
• Liquid listing
• Invite with new paid rewards
• November 25th — present taken off the google play store
• In 6 months from June to Dec delivered a completely re-written app based on the new tokenomics, which now has industry leading retention
• 11 AMA’s
• Total sign ups: 43,000 + Day 30 Retention over 30% this is industry leading

2021 is going to be even bigger:

• Build out our team, specifically in: marketing, development, HR, operations
• Switching focus from finding product market fit and retention (which has been achieved) to growth. Marketing in India and emerging markets to begin 24 hours after we are back and listed on the playstore
• New features: filters, comments, video editing features, automatic Vid creation flow, in-app audio mixer, human account verification
• Influencer and collaboration launch
• Press coverage
• Paid marketing
• Website redesign
• Wallet launch
• Airdrop
